“Spock” apologizes for wasting tax dollars

Faris Fink today expressed regrets over a California conference for IRS employees that featured a lame Star Trek parody, pricey hotel upgrades, and a gift or two funded at taxpayer expense.

During a grilling by Congressional oversight and government reform committee, the IRS official admitted the $4.1 million price tag was excessive.

He added the agency would be more frugal in the current spending environment, which includes sequestration of specific government spending programs in an effort to reign in deficits. Read: IRS in hot seat for targeting conservative groups
