SNC-Lavalin is launching a company-wide amnesty program to encourage its current employees to report potential corruption within the company.

Whether staffers have direct or indirect knowledge, the program will push them to assist the company in its efforts to deal with and resolve current corporate ethics matters.

To be eligible for amnesty, an employee has to file a request with SNC-Lavalin’s chief compliance officer within the 90-day period between June 3, 2013 and August 31, 2013.

The company will then guarantee it won’t make claims for damages or unilaterally terminate employees who voluntarily, truthfully and fully report ethics code.

However, the offer doesn’t extend to executives in the company’s office of the president, or those on its management committee groups. Those who’ve directly profited from an ethical violation are also exempt.

This is the first time a Canadian company has initiated an amnesty program, says SNC-Lavalin.

“Amnesty programs are known to be highly effective means of getting to the bottom of…compliance issues in large organizations,” says Andreas Pohlmann, chief compliance officer, SNC-Lavalin Group.”
