Data analysis firm 4th Estate recently conducted research concerning the lack of women’s voices in media coverage of the 2012 U.S. election between November 2011 and May 2012. Turns out, women aren’t being interviewed about issues that directly concern them. Men account for 81% of quotes in print media concerning abortion; 75% of quotes concerning birth control; and 67% of quotes on Planned Parenthood. Read: Time to step up On the issue of women’s rights, men gave 52% of quotes, women 31%, and organizations the remaining quotes. Read: Who’s killing the women’s movement?
