You’ll feel better Switching off after work means “higher levels of psychological well-being,” finds Sabine Sonnentag of the University of Mannheim. This includes being more satisfied with life, less emotional exhaustion, and decreased psychological strain. 2. You’ll sleep better “[Study] participants felt more content and cheerful and less fatigued and depleted at bedtime when they experienced greater detachment from work in the evening,” finds Sonnentag. 3. You’ll manage work and stress better When you leave stress at work, you’ll come back refreshed and able to approach tasks more proactively.
