Heartbleed hack still threatens banking

Six months after the Heartbleed security weakness was discovered, hundreds of thousands of servers and other Internet-enabled devices are still at risk, reports Bloomberg.

More than 1,000 top companies were still vulnerable as of August 22, when security firm Venafi tested their defences.

To protect the security of the exposed companies, Venafi hasn’t named them publicly, but says banking, retail and healthcare companies are still affected.

Another security company found as many as 300,000 Internet devices were still vulnerable as of June.
