Take Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, who retired from space exploration in 2013. He’s keeping occupied. Hadfield, 54, is now tourism ambassador for Ireland, reports the Globe and Mail. He was offered the post via Twitter by a tourism official from that country, and he touched down in Dublin today. Read: Do your clients really understand retirement? Over Hadfield’s five-month stint on the International Space Station in 2012-2013 he rose to international fame, especially with his rendition of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.” He also tweeted a picture of a harbour from space that turned out to be Dublin, the Globe says. An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth, his autobiography, was released in October 2013 and is a best seller. In December, he had a cameo in the National Ballet of Canada’s production of The Nutcracker. He is also a professor of aviation at the University of Waterloo, and he’ll start teaching classes in the fall. Read more here.
