Over the holidays, many struggle to choose the right gifts for friends and family. And deciding on client gifts isn’t any easier.

As a recent U.S. survey finds, more than half of Americans (52%) have experienced a negative reaction over a Christmas gift, reports dailyfinance.com.

As a result of misgifting, respondents say they have either received the silent treatment (20%), had their spouse complain to family and friends about a gift (18%) or gotten in an argument (10%). As well, 11% concede their gift-giving skills have been mocked at parties or family gatherings. Read more.

To avoid disappointing clients, think about their interests before deciding on how you’ll show your appreciation over the holidays. You may want to host an event for specific groups, or give different gifts to different segments of your book.
