Uncounted in the monthly job numbers, unpaid, and tucked behind closed doors in neighbourhoods across the country, are 8.1 million informal caregivers, reports the Globe and Mail.

They’re the children, siblings, nieces and nephews of Canada’s elderly or infirm citizens.

In 2012, 28% of Canadians 15 and older cared for someone with a long-term illness, disability, or who was simply getting older, indicates Statistics Canada data.

Chances are your clients, or those close to them, are caring for a loved one.
