It adds thousands of employees die or get injured while working each year in the U.S. due to the hazardous nature of their jobs—a National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows a preliminary total of 4,383 fatal work injuries in 2012, down slightly from 4,693 in 2011.
