Vanguard Canada has joined the Canadian ETF Association.

As a member firm, the company will fill one of the managing director positions on the board, and participate equally with existing members in all operational and policy matters.

“Canadian-listed ETF assets have more than doubled since 2008—[Vanguard’s own lineup has reported more than $245 million in total assets]—and we believe growth will continue,” says Atul Tiwari, managing director of Vanguard Canada.

He says ETFs will face many challenges and opportunities as they evolve, and the need to educate investors will increase.

Vanguard is the sixth full member of the association, of which Howard Atkinson, CEO of Horizons ETFs, is the chair.
