Guardian Capital is the new sub-advisor for the Horizons Dividend ETF, says AlphaPro Management and Horizons ETFs.

The fund trades on the TSX under the ticker symbols HAL and HAL.A, and its investment objective is to seek long-term total returns consisting of regular dividend income and modest long-term capital growth.

It invests primarily in equity securities of major North American companies with above average dividend yields.

AlphaPro manages the fund, and Horizons Investment Management will oversee the services of Guardian Capital.

Srikanth Iyer, managing director at Guardian, along with its portfolio managers Sam Baldwin and Fiona Wilson, will take on lead portfolio management responsibilities. They also handle the Horizons Global Dividend ETF.

“With Horizons HAL, they will be applying the same outside-in thinking strategy to the Canadian universe of dividend stocks, with the goal of outperforming the broader Canadian dividend stock market,” says Howard Atkinson, CEO of Horizons ETFs.
