First Asset Investment Management Inc. has launched the First Asset Enhanced Government Bond ETF. Two classes of units of the fund, in Canadian and U.S. currency, respectively, started trading Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The ETF’s objective is to provide long-term total returns through interest income and capital appreciation, a release said. The fund will primarily invest in government debt but may also invest in other debt instruments, including cash, corporate debt, and debt and credit derivatives.

The ETF’s investment portfolio will be co-managed by Marret Asset Management Inc. president and CIO Barry Allan; Paul Sandhu, vice-president and portfolio manager; and Adam Tuer, portfolio manager.
