The trade group for Canada’s fledgling “regtech” industry has bolstered its advisory board with the addition of three new industry experts.

The Canadian Regulatory Technology Association (CRTA) has appointed Sylvia McGratten, vice president, internal audit at Scotiabank, Loren Schwartz, head of regulatory reporting services with CIBC World Markets, and Daniel Leslie, attorney at Norton Rose Fulbright to its strategic advisory board.

“These appointments will help the CRTA deliver on its goals to facilitate dialogue, raise standards, and promote growth and innovation within the Canadian regtech ecosystem,” said Wendy Rudd, CRTA director, in a statement.

“We have seen momentum for regtech adoption pick up, but there is much more to be done,” said Leslie in a release.

“Technology cannot create change on its own; data standards and guidelines are needed to improve the accuracy and transparency of compliance. I believe that the CRTA can act as a neutral party to bring together regtech stakeholders and drive change in this area.”
