(January 20, 2005) Not content to rest on our laurels, the Advisor Group asked its readers what they wanted and the response was overwhelming: More analysis, more insight, more practical knowledge. And now we’re delivering, with a new monthly newspaper which will land in subscribers’ mailboxes between issues of Advisor’s Edge magazine.

The premiere edition of Advisor’s Edge Report is now hitting the streets, offering readers analysis and perspective on the issues that matter most to financial advisors. Packaged in a tabloid format, the newspaper includes articles on practice management, portfolio construction and advice on tax and insurance.

Advisor’s Edge Report will put into context the financial news that affects you while probing new product offerings,” says Scot Blythe, managing editor. “It will also focus on insurance, tax and investment issues and explore the regulatory and association developments that impact your practice.”

In the debut issue, AGF’s Randy Ambrosie and AIC’s David Whyte talk to ADVISOR Group executive editor Darin Diehl about their plans to combat fund redemptions by strengthening relationships with advisors.

“The most overwhelming message we received was that we weren’t showing up enough,” says Ambrosie. “I think what we understand now is that this business is largely going to be driven by advisors.”

Advisor’s Edge Report will also include the latest insights into the mutual fund industry from Morningstar Canada. This month, Morningstar analyst David O’Leary looks at the changing face of dividend funds, as they adapt to the disappearance of preferred shares.

On the practice management side, Thane Stenner explores the different personality types found in high net worth clientele. Not surprisingly, they are not all the same, with each having their own beliefs about wealth. He classifies them by their personality traits and grades them on what kind of clients they tend to be. Do you want a book full of “caregivers” or would you be better off working with “technicians?”

Advisor’s Edge Report also tackles the thorny issue of compensation disclosure in the life insurance industry and interviews John Reynolds, author of The Naked Investor.
