(April 8, 2008) Manulife Mutual Funds revealed Tuesday that one of its high-ranking employees has left the firm.

Timothy Keefe, executive vice-president and chief equity officer for MFC Global Investment Management, was responsible for the Manulife Global Opportunities Class, Manulife Global Real Estate Fund and Manulife Global Natural Resources Fund.

Several managers will share responsibility for Keefe’s former duties. Timothy Malloy, senior vice-president for MFC Global, and Rogers Hamilton, senior vice-president and portfolio manager, will manage the opportunities class.

The Global Real Estate fund will continue to be managed by Joseph Marguy, a portfolio manager for MFC Global, while Amine Benali will keep managing the Global Natural Resources Fund.

“We are very confident that our funds will continue to be managed by a highly talented management team,” says Doug Conick, vice-president of investment funds for Manulife Investments. “Tim Malloy, Joseph Marguy and Amine Benali are seasoned investment managers with over 36 years of investment experience between them. They have played an integral role in the success of these funds in the past. Our investors should rest assured that, going forward, these mandates will be managed with the same level of professionalism as they have been since their inception.”
