Toronto-based Mackenzie Investments has announced that Andrew Simpson has joined the firm as senior vice-president and portfolio manager.

Simpson, who most recently served as director of investment management at Vancouver-based Vancity Investment Management, will lead Mackenzie’s “newest sustainable investing boutique,” a release said.

This will be Mackenzie’s second boutique focused on sustainable investments; last December, Mackenzie acquired Greenchip Financial Corp., which specializes in environmental thematic investing.

According to the release, Simpson has “played a pioneering role in the Canadian sustainable investing space,” having managed Vancity’s sustainable investing funds since 2010.

Simpson will report to Lesley Marks, chief investment officer (equities), Mackenzie Investments.
