More than 700 passed CPA Canada’s May exam

More than 700 individuals passed the May sitting of the Common Final Exam (CFE) given by Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada).

The three-day evaluation assessed the knowledge, judgement and ethics of the 722 successful candidates, and it was part of the profession’s certification process, said CPA Canada on Friday. 

“We commend them for their impressive accomplishment, especially considering the challenges of studying for and successfully writing this complex exam during the pandemic,” said Charles-Antoine St-Jean, CPA Canada’s president and CEO, in a release. 

Recognized for their high standings were Kamille Español, from Ovintiv Inc. in Calgary, and Tanisha Welcher, from the Canada Revenue Agency in St. John’s, N.L. 

Español received the Governor General’s Gold Medal Award as the May 2021 CFE top writer. She also received a cash prize of $5,000.

Welcher received the ​​CPA Canada Atlantic Gold Medal Award and a cash prize of $2,500 for achieving the highest standing in her region.

Candidates were able to write the exam in individually assigned hotel rooms due to regional public health and safety guidelines.
