Sandra Henderson has joined Toronto-based discretionary investment counselling firm Delisle Advisory Group as chief operating officer. Her career spans more than 35 years and has included positions with domestic and U.S. businesses, according to an announcement from the new firm that was co-founded by former BMO executives Andrew Auerbach and Jean Blacklock. The group highlighted Henderson’s leadership experience as well as her diversity and equity advocacy. Anuj Ranjan is the new CEO of Toronto-based Brookfield Asset Management Ltd.’s private equity group as well as Brookfield Business Partners. A spokesperson with the company confirmed in an emailed statement that Ranjan is succeeding Cyrus Madon, who has been appointed executive chairman of the private equity group and Brookfield Business Partners. Ranjan joined Brookfield in 2006, the firm said, and has held multiple senior leadership roles in the time since. He was most recently president of the private equity group and global head of business development with Brookfield Asset Management. Brookfield Asset Management broadly manages more than US$850 billion in assets, with the private equity business accounting for US$139 billion and employing 190 investment professionals. Drew Henderson, Richard Williams and their team, based in Victoria, B.C., have joined Wellington-Altus Private Wealth Inc. They come from Manulife Securities, and senior wealth advisor Henderson has worked in the industry for more than 25 years while senior investment advisor Williams has spent more than 30 years. Brian Woolley is now vice-president of advisor solutions for Hub Financial and Hub Capital, with Woodbridge, Ont.–based Hub Financial Inc. He started his 30-year career with Manulife Financial Corp. and was most recently head of insurance with Manulife Securities Insurance Inc. (Hub Financial acquired BridgeForce Financial Group Inc. a year ago, a move that the managing general agent said combined the two largest independent MGAs in Canada.) Samantha Ouimet is senior vice-president of corporate communications and marketing with Raymond James Ltd., the domestic arm of Raymond James Financial Inc. She brings 25 years of experience across various sectors, a release said. She held director roles with BMO Financial Group in the past, for more than six years. Elaine Blades, formerly a senior manager with the professional practice group at RBC Wealth Management (specifically, RBC Royal Trust), has retired. She worked with the bank for nearly eight years, and her industry tenure spanned more than 30 years. Amanda Norton was appointed to the board of directors with Royal Bank of Canada, effective Feb. 1. She’s worked with global financial institutions for more than 30 years, a release said, noting that Norton most recently worked with Wells Fargo as executive vice-president and chief risk officer. Arshil Jamal will retire in mid-February from Great-West Lifeco Inc., where he’s currently president and group head, strategy, for investments, reinsurance and corporate development. He’s been with the company for more than 25 years, a release said, adding that his departure has led to some changes. David Harney (president and COO, Europe) will assume expanded responsibilities, while Raman Srivastava (EVP and global chief investment officer) will report directly to president and CEO Paul Mahon. At Hamilton Lane, an alternative investment management and advisory company based in Pennsylvania, two new executive roles have been created. One of those positions, principal with the global real assets investments team, was filled by Taylor McManus in Toronto. He first joined the firm in September, coming from Instar Asset Management in Toronto.
