Each week, Advisor’s Edge summarizes notable moves across the financial industry.

  • SEI Investments Canada Company (SEI Canada) named Karla Webster Gill as managing director and head of asset management distribution. A 16-year SEI veteran, Gill previously served as director of business development for SEI Asset Management Distribution. She takes over from Andy Mitchell, who is leaving SEI to pursue another opportunity. Gill has been in the industry for 27 years.
  • Charley Butler has been appointed to the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board (Ontario Teachers’) as chief pension officer, effective Jan. 1, 2023. Butler brings more than 20 years of experience in client services operational management, business transformation and strategy to the role, and she first joined Ontario Teachers’ to oversee the members’ services team in 2015.
  • Kevan Cowan, who was appointed as chair of the Ontario Securities Commission on Nov. 30, officially began his term on Dec. 15. His term will end on April 29, 2024, which is the same end date as the term of his initial two-year appointment as a part-time director.
