Google outpacing Apple in apps market

Could Google overtake Apple as the most popular global app platform?

It seems so, says Financial Times, given Google reports an average of 2.5 billion downloads per month to Android devices. In contrast, Apple says people only download 2 billion per month to phones, iPods and iPads.
