FSRA seeks volunteers for committee on planner, advisor titles

Consumer advocates, industry trade groups and others are being invited to join the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario’s (FSRA) regulatory advisory committee on planners and advisors.

FSRA is seeking 14 volunteers to join its advisory committee for a two-year term starting in the fall.

The committee will provide FSRA with input on its work overseeing planners and advisors, which includes establishing minimum proficiency standards, overseeing credentialing bodies, developing industry and consumer education, and monitoring emerging trends involving the new title regime.

The regulator said the committee will inform its annual business planning and budgeting, particularly for its planner and advisor-related priorities and activity. It will also provide feedback on regulation in this area and highlight emerging issues in the sector.

The deadline for applications to the committee is Aug. 15.
