(August 15, 2006) Sarbit Asset Management has announced the appointment of Nestor Theodorou as executive vice-president and portfolio manager for fixed income.

“Fixed income will play a larger and larger role in people’s portfolios as the baby boomers are now hitting the age of retirement,” said Larry Sarbit, president and CEO of Sarbit Asset Management. “We are extremely fortunate to hire someone of Nestor’s pedigree to run fixed income at Sarbit.”

Sarbit plans on launching two fixed-income funds under the stewardship of Nestor Theodorou in September, 2006. Theodorou is a 16-year veteran of the fixed-income market, having worked at Canada Life, Burns Fry, Assante Asset Management and, most recently, Investors Group.

BluMont names new executives

(August 15, 2006) BluMont Capital has named three new members to its executive team. Conor Bill and Peter Chodos join BluMont as managing directors and James Wanstall has been named executive vice-president, national sales.

“We are thrilled about the addition of such outstanding financial professionals and we are confident in their abilities to bring forth new and exciting product and sales initiatives to our firm,” said Steve Kangas, president of BluMont. “Going forward BluMont will take a leadership role in encouraging investment advisors and their clients to increase their knowledge and exposure to alternative investments. These gentlemen bring unique and dynamic skill sets to the BluMont team that complement and support this strategy.”

Bill was one of the co-founders of Mt. Auburn Capital, as well as Lawrence Asset Management. Chodos has 25 years of experience in financial engineering and corporate finance with Wood Gundy, Loewen, Ondaatje, McCutcheon and BZW Canada.

Wanstall has worked in financial services for 20 years, including stints at McLeod Young Weir in London, as well as working as an advisor with Burns Fry. Most recently, Wanstall was senior vice-president, business development, at Abria.
