Portland Investment Counsel has announced that executive chairman Michael Lee-Chin will once again take on the role of CEO, with the departure of Jonathan Wellum at the end of the year.

“I’d like to thank Jonathan for his commitment and dedication to Portland Investment Counsel over the last twenty years and I wish him every success in the future,” said Lee-Chin. “Portland is in a tremendous position to excel and I am excited to steward Portland into its next stage of growth and development.”

Wellum’s other role, chief investment officer, will be taken over by Randy LeClair, who joined the firm in July 1998 as senior fixed income analyst.

“Randy is a very principled investment professional whose extensive experience in the financial services industry and track record make him a perfect fit for the role of chief investment officer,” said Lee-Chin.

LeClair was promoted to vice-president and portfolio manager in December 1999, and then to senior vice-president in January 2007.
