BMO Investments and Guardian Group of Funds will amalgamate to form a single legal entity effective November 1.

BMO will become the trustee and manager of all BMO Guardian Funds currently managed by Guardian Group of Funds Ltd., and will continue to act as trustee and manager of the BMO Mutual Funds. BMO Investments Inc. is an affiliate of Guardian Group of Funds Ltd.

This change will allow the two fund families, BMO Mutual Funds and BMO Guardian Funds, to operate within a more streamlined organizational structure and will provide administrative and cost benefits.

frontierAlt Capital replaces advisor for two funds

Tralucent Asset Management has been named investment advisor for the frontierAlt Opportunities Bond Fund and the Global Dividend Fund.

The new relationship with frontierAlt for the Opportunities Bond Fund became effective on July 3, 2009. As for the Global Dividend Fund, Tralucent will assume the role of the investment advisor on July 20, 2009.

Tralucent Asset Management is an investment counsel portfolio manager that serves institutions and high-net-worth individuals.

Sun Life exec appointed CIA president

Robert (Bob) Howard has been named as the new president for the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) for 2009-2010.

“Bob is well-known and well-respected for his passion and knowledge within the actuarial community,” says Dean Connor, president of Sun Life Financial Canada.

Currently, Howard is assistant vice-president, financial management actuarial, with Sun Life Financial in Waterloo, Ont.
