Don Roberts has been tapped to become the new vice-chairman of renewable energy and clean technology in CIBC’s wholesale banking group.

“I believe the sector provides significant growth opportunities for developers and investors alike,” said Roberts. “Total capital invested in clean energy has increased 60% over the last five years. I expect investment to grow even faster in the coming years with technological and cost breakthroughs coming at a rapid rate.”

Roberts has spent the past 10 years working as an equity analyst in Canada. Seven of those 10 years, he was named as top in his field.

Scotia INNOVA Portfolios reach AUM milestone

Scotia Asset Management announced yesterday that its Scotia INNOVA Portfolios program has reached $1 billion in assets under management.

“This outstanding achievement has helped ScotiaFunds maintain a leadership position in net sales within the find industry and reflects the growing confidence that investors and advisors have in our fun line-up,” said Glen Gowland, president and CEO of Scotia Asset Management.

INNOVA Portfolios are available to clients with over $50,000 to invest. The program consists of five different continuously monitored portfolios, aimed at optimizing returns.

Scotia Asset Management, L.P. manages 33 different mutual funds and 21 professionally managed portfolios.

AGF names institutional head for Europe, Middle East

AGF Management has named Brian Brennan as its new vice-president of institutional business development. This is a new position, which will focus on increasing and managing institutional sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“The number of strategically important clients in the area has grown significantly and we now have someone on the ground to meet their needs,” said Gary Wing, senior vice-president, institutional for AGF.

The position will be based out of Dublin, Ireland, where Brennan previously worked as general manager and compliance officer with AGF International Advisors Company Limited.
