Looking for the star equity analysts of tomorrow? Try Wilfrid Laurier University. The school produced the winning team in the Toronto CFA Society’s inaugural Investment Research Challenge. The challenge pitted 10 university teams from across Ontario in a two-tiered competition. The Toronto CFA Society chose a public company, Glacier Media Inc., as the subject of the student research reports.

“I think that confidence was a key driver for us. We set out to win this competition from the very beginning and always believed we would accomplish our goal. Now that we’re here, we will have to redefine our goals in order to achieve success in New York,” said Zachary Cressman, one of the Laurier team members.

In the final stage of the competition, the four leading teams — Sprott School of Business, Telfer School of Management, Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Waterloo — presented their research to a panel of Toronto industry professionals.

The winning Laurier team was made up of Cressman, Andy Huynh, Gurveer Kehal, Jason Senensky and faculty advisor Professor Brian F. Smith.
