The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is seeking a leader for its new innovation office in Toronto.

The BIS Innovation Hub, launched in 2019 to drive up central bank innovation and improve the functioning of the global financial system through fintech development, is expanding to four new locations including Toronto.

Based in Basel, the unit already has regional branches hosted by the central banks in Hong Kong, Singapore and Switzerland.

It’s expanding with new offices in Toronto, Frankfurt/Paris, London, and Stockholm, alongside the central banks in those regions (the Bank of Canada, the Bank of England, the European Central Bank, and the central banks for Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland, respectively).

It’s expected that the new branches will open in 2021, and the BIS is recruiting heads for each of the new regional hubs. The application deadline is March 31.
