Do you and your clients know how to creatively save money?

If you answered yes, it’s time to cash in that knowledge. ING Direct is now asking people across the country to submit videos detailing the inventive ways they save as part of a $10,000 contest called the Canadian Superstar Saver Search.

Video entries have to be two-to-three minutes long and must be uploaded to the contest website by May 30, 2013. The bank will choose the top ten English and French videos, and then have Canadians vote for their three favourites in each category between June 2 and June 15.

Eligible entrants are competing for two $10,000 grand prizes, one for best English and best French video. The bank says second-place winners in each category will receive $3,000, while the two third-place winners will get $2,000.

To help inspire Canadians, ING has offered up mock sample videos. In one, a woman makes a full-sized carpet out of small rug samples to cut renovation costs.

We need to “change the conversation about money and [this] is an interactive way to do that,” says Andrew Zimakas, chief marketing officer of ING Direct. He adds Canadians are one of the most active groups when it comes to online video viewership and creation, so it’s the most effective medium to get peoples’ attentions.
