Advocis, the Financial Advisors Association of Canada, has partnered with Knowledge Bureau to offer its members a new designation: the Master Financial Advisor – Philanthropy (MFA-P).

A three-course program — developed by Knowledge Bureau in cooperation with the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and Spire Philanthropy — is designed to prepare advisors for helping clients with their philanthropic planning.

Online courses include case studies and cover topics such as planning with vulnerable clients, strategizing with holding companies and using life insurance in gift planning.

“The MFA-P Designation will help advisors understand how to use strategic gift planning in their practices, using various gifting vehicles and concepts,” Barbara Riddell, vice-president of education and membership at Advocis, said in a statement.

The program is available now to Advocis members.
