Advisor’s Edge, the sister property of Advisor.ca, is ten years old this month.

To celebrate, Advisor Group hosted a bash last night for 150 guests at the Gardiner Museum in Toronto. Guests included Jim Rogers of Rogers Group Financial, Glorianne Stromberg, compliance lawyer Ellen Bessner and David Christianson of Wellington West, who is a veteran contributor to the magazine.

Advisor’s Edge editor Philip Porado presented long-time AE tax columnist Gena Katz with an award for her outstanding contributions to the magazine over ten years. Katz has written more than 120 columns for Advisor’s Edge, and continues to be a regular monthly contributor.

“Gena has found something interesting to write about tax every month for ten years. Think about that. It’s an amazing accomplishment,” Porado says.

At the bash, Blair Sorge, a Calgary-based advisor with Investors Group, was named the winner of the magazine’s “What’s Your Edge?” contest, which had asked advisors to explain, in 200 words or less, how they go the extra mile for their clients. Sorge’s entry, along with three honourable mentions, are featured in a special tenth anniversary issue of Advisor’s Edge, which hit the streets this week.

“It’s been a privilege to shape the tenth anniversary issue but the real credit goes to my team at the magazine and my colleagues who gave me excellent guidance,” Porado says.
