The 2012 Digital Day Conference took place today in Toronto, and offered up some helpful social media tips for Canadian advisors.

In today’s market, you not only have to be active on social media platforms, but also have to learn how to use them effectively.

As technology evolves, your clients will expect to receive information both quickly and conveniently, and will also expect you to keep up with trends.

Check out our earlier live tweets below (and on our twitter page), which outline some basic tips:

  • Keep a log of which clients prefer print and digital communication, and tailor outbounds to their preferences. #digitalday12
  • It’s not yet the year of the mobile, despite predictions. A lot of content is still geared towards a pc-based delivery. #digitalday12
  • Content for mobile devices needs to geared towards the platform. It’s a more personal environment for the user. #digitalday12
  • The future is about context. People want things curated and packaged to their needs and taste. #digitalday12
  • Don’t do a land grab for more followers. Create a dialogue with the people you actually want to reach. #digitalday12
