January 13, 2014 | Last updated on January 13, 2014 1 min read One out of every two private-sector companies in Greece is not paying staff on time, finds the Labour Institute of the Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE). This means there are about one million workers who are unpaid, reports BBC. In fact, BBC found the 1,200 workers at the Athens-based Hellenic Shipyards have not been paid since April 2012. One employee says he’s been forced to borrow money from friends, and gets food from the Church. And this news comes on top of the of 27% unemployment rate in the country. Read more.
