Target Canada to expand

Target will add nine stores in Canada this year.

There are already 124 Target stores open in all ten provinces. Each Target store in Canada employs an average of 150 people.

Target’s American stores were the victim of credit card hackers, which stole the debit and credit information of 40 million shoppers. They also took the personal information, including phone numbers, emails and home addresses, of 70 million customers. The U.S. Attorney general has vowed to track down the thieves. Though the theft was aimed at American stores, some Canadian cross-border customers were affected.

Five of the new stores will open in Ontario, with single store additions planned for Quebec, Manitoba, Alberta and B.C.

Spring 2014: The Stockyards, Toronto, Ontario Kingsway Mall, Edmonton, Alberta Hillside Centre, Victoria, British Columbia

Summer 2014 Erin Mills Town Centre, Mississauga, Ontario Park Place, Barrie, Ontario Carrefour Candiac, Candiac, Quebec

Fall 2014: St. Laurent, Ottawa, Ontario Sheridan Centre, Mississauga, Ontario Polo Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba
