Man accidentally dumps $9M in bitcoin

James Howells of Wales is kicking himself for tidying up around the house, reports CNN.

While cleaning this summer he decided to throw out an old hard drive. Later, he remembered there were 7,500 bitcoins, which he had mined four years ago, stored on the computer, CNN says.

Bitcoins are currently worth more than US$1,200, meaning his digital coins would be worth $9 million.

Howells went to the landfill recently to see if he could recover the hard drive, but was told it’s now under 25,000 cubic meters of waste.
