Japanese jobs report superstition proves true again

Japanese traders have a superstition: when a film from Studio Ghibli, a Tokyo-based animation studio, airs on television at the same time U.S. payroll data are released, the report will be weak, reports the Wall Street Journal.

This proved true for the eighth time today, when Japanese viewers were able to watch “Castle in the Sky” on Nippon Television and, simultaneously, July’s U.S. job growth data was released and fell short of expectations.
