And two-thirds of Canadians say they applied to more than 10 positions before getting hired, finds the Workopolis study. Between 1990 and 2000, the number of people who keep their jobs for less than two years rose from 16% to 33%, says Workopolis. The job-seekers’ website has some tips for those looking for work that may be useful to any clients who are between posts. Always send a thank-you note after an interview. If you don’t hear back a while after an interview, send another note re-stating your enthusiasm, mentioning details from the interview, and inquiring about the job’s status. And if you’re hiring staff, follow up with each candidate who is interviewed. Everyone should have a positive experience with your company, regardless of whether he or she gets the job.
