CN workers reject deal

Tentative labour agreements between CN and its workers failed to be ratified by union members, the railway says.

The agreements were negotiated in October 2013.

The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference – Conductors, Trainpersons and Yardpersons represents approximately 3,000 CN train employees in Canada.

“We have agreed to meet with the TCRC-CTY leaders next week to review the ratification results and discuss solutions on how we move forward from here,” Jim Vena, CN executive vice-president and chief operating officer, says.

CN transports approximately $250 billion worth of goods a year, ranging from resource products to manufactured products to consumer goods, across a rail network spanning Canada and mid-America.
