In 2009, the number of people without a job for more than a year doubled, from 40,000 to 80,000. It the long-term jobless population continued to grow, peaking at 120,000 in 2011. Read: Consumer confidence mixed There are now fewer people who are unemployed for between 27 and 51 weeks than at the peak of the recession, reports CB. But long-term joblessness continues to be far higher than before the recession. So far in 2014, it’s still above 80,000. See graphs here.
