Apple to refund $32.5M in kids’ app purchases

Apple and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission have reached a deal to issue $32.5 million in refunds to customers whose children made purchases inside apps without their knowledge.

The refund is on top of a $100 million class action suit which Apple settled last year, Consumerist reports.

The FTC says the tech giant allegedly violated U.S. communications law by failing to notify parents that after they signed off on one purchase within the app, there was a 15-minute window to continue buying without entering a password.
