Conversation starter – Why social issues matter to investors

Ask your client, “What causes matter to you?” Depending on his answer, discuss how it has implications for society and ultimately, the economy. Then explain how some portfolio managers are beginning to take such issues into account when making investments. After your meeting, look into companies that are trying to address the social issues your client mentioned.
