By Melissa Shin | February 5, 2016 | Last updated on October 30, 2023 1 min read When I was younger, I looked forward to Lunar New Year for the long noodles, the whole fish (my parents always saved my sister and me the cheeks), the family get-togethers and, of course, the red packets filled with cash. Thanks to a combination of parental influence and innate conscientiousness, I rarely spent that lucky money — it usually went straight to my bank account.
