  • One of your clients is an art lover with a valuable collection. Put this to him in your next meeting: “You mentioned you love art and have been collecting paintings and sculptures for years. Do you think your collection is properly insured?”
  • One of your clients has a son who’s getting married in a couple months. In your next meeting, say: “You mentioned your son’s getting married soon. If he and his wife-to-be are considering life insurance, they may want to look at a joint policy.”
  • One of your clients has a taste for adventure. On summer weekends she’s skydiving, rock climbing, or doing some other activity that could mean death or serious injury if something went wrong. Ask: “I know you’ve adopted a few adventurous hobbies. When you took out your life insurance policy last winter, were those activities disclosed to the insurer?”
  • If your client is a principal of a small or medium-sized business, ask: “What would happen to your business if for some reason you were temporarily or permanently unable to work?” If the answer is that the whole operation would be in compete disarray, suggest she consider key person insurance.
